MARIANNESCRAP CHALLENGE

Hello dear Friends! The holidays are fast approaching and instead of the traditional red-white-green color scheme I'm in a "pink" mood or I should say a "sugar-plum" kind of a mood since I definitely have visions of sweets dancing in my head!
Today's page is for my friend Céline's challenge who is celebrating 100 subscribers to her blog Mariannescrap .
The challenge is open to all and consists of making a page with at least 5 of these 10 requirements:
* at least 2 different cardstocks
* only 1 p.p
* 1 portrait photo
* scalloped borders
* 3 groups of brads
* tracing paper
* mixed title
* A4 format
* rounded corners
* dry-embossing
the MUST: cord/string but NOT used with brads or eyelets!

Coucou les Scropines! A l'approche des Fetes, je me sens retomber en enfance. Alors après la pate d'amandes, je reve de maisons en pain d'épices, de macarons Ispahan Ladurée et de refaire des marshallows .
Cette page est déjà un avant gout de l'humeur poudrée du moment et surtout elle répond au défi de la Scropinette Céline qui fete les 100 abonnées à son blog Mariannescrap .


The journaling is about my realization that I shouldn't rush Lily into learning how to swim because she's enjoying the process so much! ( do you see how I've used the MUST? )

I painted the orange paper with acrylic paint and created waves using a plastic fork.
J'ai peint le papier orangé avec de l'acrylique et tracé des vagues à l'aide d'une fourchette en plastique.


A close-up on the letters which remind me of marshmallows! I used a Quickutz alphabet with a sheet of white foam.
Gros-plan sur le titre qui me donne encore plus envie de marshmallows ( ca tourne à l'obsession! ). J'ai utilisé l'alphabet Chemistry de Quickutz pour découper dans une feuille de mousse blanche ( en utilisant la Revolution ). En ce qui concerne le sens du titre donc, "going with the flow" veut dire "se laisser porter", "ne pas se faire de bile", "cool Raoul"... le "flow" c'est la vague, le mouvement de la vague alors avec le journaling portant sur les cours de natation et la maman qui panique parce que sa fille ne sait toujours pas nager au bout de 2 ans, vous voyez où je veux en venir?! et oui, le titre, c'est le mot de la fin, la morale de l'histoire pour ma petite pomme, comme quoi le scrap sert aussi à ca: RE-LA-TI-VI-SER!

SEVERINE'S SKETCH & DAILY DECEMBER

Hello my Friends and happy Friday! It's a sunny one here in Chicago and I've finally been able to take pictures of the different things I've been wanting to share with you. First, a 12 x 12 layout following Séverine Di G.'s sketch:
Bonjour les Scropines! Le soleil est enfin revenu ici ce qui signifie que j'ai pu prendre en photos les différentes réalisations que je voulais vous montrer. La première est une page 30 x 30 selon le fabuleux sketch de Séverine Di G.:


Here is my take on it. I had so much fun playing with that sketch and incorporating pieces of the package to document Lily's passion for Marzipan!
Voici mon interpretation:


I chose a piece of Kraft cardtstock for the background to reinforce the "package idea" and also because I like the contrast it makes with the other elements of the page which tend to be more feminine and delicate ( pastel colors, font, butterflies. )
J'ai choisi la page Kraft pour renforcer l'idée de l'emballage et parce que j'aimais le contraste qu'il offrait avec les autres éléments qui sont plus délicats, féminins ( teintes pastelles, police de caractère Fling, papillons )


Why butterflies you may ask? For two reasons: #1. for such a linear page, movement was needed. Here butterflies echo the cord in "breaking" the perpendicular lines. #2. is linked to #1, the butterflies introduce some softness and good balance against the roughness of the kraft.
Pourquoi des papillons justement? Pour deux raisons: 1. la page étant assez linéaire, il fallait introduire du mouvement. Les papillons font écho à la cordelette et "cassent" les lignes perpendiculaires. 2. dans la meme veine que la 1ère raison, les papillons confèrent une certaine douceur à l'ensemble, ils renforcent aussi le contraste avec le coté "brut de brut" du papier kraft.


I'm one of many embarking on a December Daily this year. Mine will be almost 100% My LYB ( I'll introduce some envelopes to keep different mementos )
Je rejoins la longue liste des adeptes du Decemebr daily que j'appelerai "Album de l'Avent", histoire de ne pas se faire complètement cannibaliser par la langue de Shakespeare! Le mien sera aux couleurs de My LYB, je vous en montrerai plus bientot!

1. Have you ever made a layout about a food someone liked and included a piece of packaging directly on the page? Is that something that you'd feel like trying? What would that food be? ( it's more than 2 already isn't it?! )

TELL IT LIKE IT IS...

The journaling part of a lay-out is often the hardest for me. It's the one I leave 'till the very end and yet it is the soul of a page and with the years, the element I treasure the most. I have found that if I remind myself to "tell it like it is", the journaling comes more easily. It's easier said than done. Do I really want to shout to the world how I really feel about the two teenagers who live in my house? mmm...maybe not, but if I keep it real by telling what happened the way it happened maybe the honesty will carry the pages through the years. A good example to illustrate this is the journaling of this page which talks about the fact that my two teenagers didn't really want to participate in the preparations of Halloween until the 31ST of October...the best reward came for me when Gabrielle read it, chuckled and thanked me for "telling it like it is"!

Le journaling d'une page est toujours un moment d'hésitations, je le repousse jusqu'au dernier moment d'ailleurs! Pourtant avec les années ce journaling prend une importance folle, plus que les beaux papiers machins ou la photo super mignonne de bidule, le texte est l'ame d'une page. Il est donc crucial pour moi de rester au plus près de la réalité lorsque je l'écris. Bon je ne veux pas dire que je vais me venger de ces deux ados qui vivent chez moi en racontant toutes les horreurs qu'ils font subir à leur pauvre mère...quoique...J'espère que cette "vérité" meme si elle n'est que mienne saura porter les pages à travers les années à venir...Ce L.O est un bon exemple d'un journaling simple et vrai et la plus belle des récompenses est venue de Gabrielle qui l'ayant lu, a gloussé puis m'a remerciée d'avoir écrit le texte de cette facon.

EDIT: Je vous conseille vivement le blog Ecris Ton Scrap , véritable mine d'or pour nous aider avec le journaling justement!

SUNDAY UPDATE

Hello my Friends, today is a mixed bag of different projects: terrarium, image transfer, baking and crochet flowers. Here is what my Sunday looked like:
Bonjour les Scropinettes! Aujourd'hui est à l'image de cette mosaique, c'est-à-dire différents projets: terrarium, transfer de photocopies, un peu de patisserie et des essais fleurs au crochet:


Let's start with an update on the third Craft Social. The attendance was supposed to be higher but it seemed like there were not as many people this time around. The project and the food were wonderful and yes, I did get to make two of them! The first one is a Mason Jar Terrarium and it brought me back to my childhood! I totally had an "Amélie Poulain" moment there and I think the concept would be great in a classroom...to see the "how-to", click here.

Commencons par le Craft Social. Il devait y avoir 175 personnes mais il m'a semblé qu'il y avait au contraire moins de gens qu'à la dernière? Le choix des ateliers tout comme la variété des desserts coté buffet était fantastique, et oui, j'ai réussi à m'extraire du mien pour deux projets. Le premier m'a transportée dans l'univers édulcoré des souvenirs de mon enfance, il s'agissait d'un mini Terrarium dans un pot de confiture! C'est sent l'Amélie Poulain à plein tube, non?! Qui a dit "kitsch"?!! Non, mais n'impooooorte quoi! Bref, moi si j'étais instit. je le ferai faire faire aux bambini! ( bon avec moins de terre c'est sur! )


The second project was one I had been wanting to try for a while, it's a black & white photocopy transfer. We used watercolor paint, color pencils, modpodge, water and a hair dryer. Such a cool technique and I can't wait to use it for cardmaking or scrapbooking! The whole time I was working on it I could hear Robert Frost's poem in my mind...

Le deuxième atelier que j'ai fait est un transfer de photocopie N & B avec de l'aquarelle, des crayons de couleurs, de la Modpodge, de l'eau et un sèche-cheveux! Ca faisait longtemps que je voulais essayer cette technique et j'ai hate de l'adapter au scrap! J'avais le poème de Robert Frost dans la tete en réalisant ce projet, je vous laisse le découvrir ou le re-découvrir mais ne comptez pas sur moi pour une traduction qui ne ferait que le massacrer!

And yesterday while the cinnamon buns were baking I tried to crochet a flower following this step-by-step ( sorry the text is in French but the pictures are great! ) After two attempts and almost burnt buns I finally got it!
Et puis hier après-midi pendant que j'avais les petits escargots à la cannelle qui cuisaient dans le four j'ai suivi ce tuto pour apprendre à crocheter une petite fleur. Après deux essais et des petits pains un peu trop bronzés, j'ai fini par y arriver!

CHRISTMAS TAGS ~ CHICAGO CRAFT SOCIAL

Tonight is Chicago's 3rd Craft Social and I'll have the pleasure of being a project leader. The theme is "the holidays" and I came up with grey-white-black and red gift tags. It's a project that isn't too difficult to make with a few fun techniques such as dry-embossing, stamping, die-cutting, punching and using negative shapes ( i.e the peek-a-boo window ).

Ce soir se tient la troisième "Craft Social" de Chicago et j'aurai le plaisir d'y conduire un atelier "cartes-cadeaux". Le thème de cette soirée étant les Fetes de fin d'année, j'ai pensé que ces étiquettes ne seraient pas trop difficiles à réaliser tout en introduisant diverses techniques comme: l'embossage à sec, tampons, perforations, emporte-pièces et l'utilisation d'une forme négative pour faire une fenetre.


SUPPLIES:

* a die-cutting machine ( Big Shot )
* a dry-embossing die ( Cuttlebug)
* adhesive
* a bone-folder
* a paper-trimmer
* various cardstocks: grey, white, black
* Christmas stamps ( Making Memories, Hero Arts )
* ink pads ( ColorBox )
* ribbon, hemp string
* cropodile
* 2 circle punches
* 1 scalloped square punch ( 2 1/2 in. )


STEP-BY-STEP:


1. Cut grey cardstock: 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 in.
1. Couper le papier gris: 14 x 7 cm

2. Punch a scalloped square in white cardstock.
2. Avec la perforatrice carrée, couper un carré dans le papier blanc.


3. Punch circles in black cardstock, (smaller one first)
3. Avec la perfo petit cercle, couper un cercle dans le papier noir.

4. Go back to the negative circle shape with bigger circle punch and cut.
4. Revenez sur la forme négative du petit cercle avec votre perfo grand cercle et couper.


5. Dry-emboss grey cardstock.
5. Embossez votre papier gris.

6. Fold card in two with bone folder.
6. Plier votre carte en deux (dans le sens de la longueur).


7. Stamp sentiment on white scalloped square (with silver ink).
7. Estampez votre message sur la carte blanche.

8. Adhere that white piece to the inside page of the grey card.
8. Collez ce morceau blanc à l'intérieur de la carte grise.


9. Punch small circle on the bottom right corner of the grey card.
9. Avec la perforatrice petit cercle, découpez un cercle dans le bas droit de la carte grise.

10. Glue black piece to frame the negative circle shape.
10. Collez le morceau noir autour de la forme négative du cercle afin de créer un encadrement.


11. Close the card to adhere the epoxy sticker or stamp the image.
11. Fermez la carte pour coller l'epoxy ou estamper l'image.


12. Flip the card open and with the cropodile punch a small hole in the top left corner.
12. Ouvrez la carte, avec la cropodile faites un petit trou.

Feed ribbon or hemp string through the hole.
Passez un ruban ou ficelle dans le petit trou.

NICOLE'S NOVEMBER SKETCH

Hello My Friends! Nicole has done it again! She 's put together two sketches ( an 8 1/2 x 11 version and a 12 x 12 one ) for anyone to interpret:
Bonjour Les Scropines! Nicole nous propose deux sketches sur son blog ( une version format A4 et une 30 x 30cm ):


I chose to go with the first one. Here are the few changes I made:
* instead of having the two tall elements on top, I placed them toward the bottom of the page.
* I converted the three squares into 1 square picture + 1 sticker ( which is almost equal to 2 squares )
* closed the gap between the different elements leaving more space only for the journaling part.


J'ai choisi de suivre le format A4 tout en effectuant quelques petits changements:
* au lieu d'avoir les deux grands rectangles vers le haut, je les ai descendus pour qu'ils ne "flottent" pas.
* J'ai converti les 3 carrés en: une photo carrée + un autocollant ( plus au moins equivalent à deux fois la taille du carré ).
* plus d'espace entre les différents éléments sauf pour la partie "journaling".


All supplies are from My LYB's Halloween collection: Trick or Treat except for the solid cardstock ( Archiver's ) and the scalloped edge ( Fiskar's ).

LEARNING ~ APPRENTISSAGE

One of the subjects I like to scrap the most is the everyday life, the routine, our surroundings. Gallianne Lily, being a first grader, is learning how to read and write and is quite passionate about it! Every time I turn around she's reading to herself, playing teacher with her dolls or making a new alphabet on the fridge.

Un des sujets que j'aime le plus scrapper est la vie de tous les jours, la routine, ce qui nous entoure. Gallianne Lily étant au CP ( 11 ème) elle apprend à lire et à écrire et y prend un vrai plaisir. Dès qu'elle a un moment, elle prend un livre et essaye de le lire, elle joue à la maitresse avec ses poupées ou elle fait un nouvel alphabet sur le réfrigérateur.

DOOR-HANGER

Hello! On October 26th, the Swiss forum Scrapdéco had a fun evening of challenges and although the pace was way too fast for me ( some had to be done in 30 mns! ) I did manage to make the third one which was a door-hanger.

Bonjour! Le 26 octobre Scrapdéco organisait une soirée scrap de pur délire! certains projets devaient etre exécutés en 30 mns, ce qui est absolument impossible pour moi scrap tortue que je suis! J'ai cependant réussi à faire un " doorhanger" oh pas dans les temps je vous rassure tout de suite mais au moins ca a fait plaisir au Fiston!

AGING & STAMPING ON PRINTED PAPER

Hello my Friends! Just as I was slowly but surely falling into the Christmas spirit, the weather here has decided to show us it was finished with the Indian Summer after all! I'm looking forward to visiting the local arboretum and snapping away like crazy but first I wanted to post a tutoring about transforming a piece of printed paper to add dimension and a vintage look to your projects. I used the techniques to make an ornement but I could have made a card, a tag, a flower...


Bonjour les Scropinettes! Alors que je me sentais plonger doucement dans l'ambiance de Noel, le temps a décidé qu'il n'en n'avait pas terminé avec l'été indien! Je me réjouis à l'idée de rendre visite à l'arboretum et prendre des photos mais avant je voulais partager ce tuto avec vous. C'est en lisant le commentaire de Pascale sur mes cartes ATC que l'idée de partager ces quelques techniques m'est venue, donc pour montrer à Pascale que je ne "cache" rien ;-) voici comment vieillir et tamponner une page de livre. Je m'en suis servie pour faire une déco de noel mais j'aurais très bien pu l'utiliser pour une carte, une fleur, un embellie...


Step-by-Step:

1. Make yourself a cup of tea and save the tea bag or loose leaves.
Faites vous une tasse de thé et gardez le sachet ou les feuilles de thé.

2. Tear a page out of an old book ( do not do this in front of a small child or you might regret the consequences! )
Arrachez une page d'un vieux livre ( à ne pas faire devant un jeune enfant, vous pourriez le regretter ultérieurement! )


3. Rub the tea bag/leaves all over your page.
Frottez la page avec le sachet/feuilles de thé.

4. Use a heatgun to accelerate the drying process.
Vous pouvez utiliser un sèche-cheveux pour sècher la feuille.

5. You don't have to iron but I recommend it ( no water in the iron )
Repassez la page sans mettre d'eau dans le fer.


6. Ink the background stamp ( Hero Arts Branch Background CG 122 ) + Color Box ( Cranberry )
Encrez votre tampon ( Hero Arts Branch Background CG 122 ) + Color Box ( Cranberry )

7. Pour red embossing powder ( Ranger ) all over your page.
Versez votre poudre à embosser ( Ranger ) sur la page.

8. Heat to emboss.
Chauffez la poudre.


9. You can use your "aged & stamped" paper for many different projects. Here I used a Sizzix die-cut.
Vous pouvez utilisé votre papier "vieilli et estampé" pour de nombreux projets. J'ai choisi de m'en servir avec cet emporte-pièces Sizzix.

10. Make another sock using heavy cardstock.
Faites une autre chaussette dans un carton.


11. Adhere the felt piece to the stamped one first and then to the heavy cardstock piece.
Collez le morceau de feutrine à celui estampé et ensuite à la forme de carton.

12. Voilà!

HERO ARTS ATCs & 1ST CHRISTMAS CARD

Done, finished, finito, finies...the idea of making the same ATC 10 times was blocking me for some reasons but when I started playing with that beautiful ruby red and great background stamp ( Poinsettia and bird ), the process started flowing...

Ca y est, fini, finished, finito,done...ouf car l'idée de faire 10 fois la meme carte ATC me bloquait totalement! Lorsque j'ai commencé à jouer avec le tampon H.A. et ce rouge que j'affectionne tant, tout s'est enchainé facilement...


My inspiration came from my neighbors' gorgeous Japanese Maple which I can admire from the kitchen! I wanted these little cards to be full of warmth and with a nice texture.

C'est le merveilleux érable japonais de mes voisins qui m'a inspirée! Je peux l'apercevoir de la fenetre de la cuisine et je voulais essayer de donner à ces petites cartes de la chaleur et différentes textures.



And here is the first Christmas card of the season! I adapted Kristina Werner's sketch ( 2Peas ) a little so that the ATC would be the main focus.

Taking a walk with my parents after a nice big meal prepared by my Mom is something we used to do just about every Sunday when we lived in France. This page is about a Sunday afternoon walk we shared together and how special it was since they were flying back to Paris the next day.

La promenade du dimanche après un bon déjeuner préparé par ma Maman était un rituel lorsque nous habitions en France. J'ai fait cette page parce que je voulais garder un souvenir de cette promenade partagée avec mes parents la veille de leur départ. La phrase sur le tampon Florilèges me semblait tout à fait appropriée.

Exchanging correspondence is such an enriching experience and when you add scrapbooking to it well, it takes a whole dimension. Two friends of mine: Pascale and Mary have started a call for cards from other fellow scrapbookers. They received the ones I made so I can share them here with you.

And then sometimes, exchanging correspondence leads to new friendship and to marvelous surprises. That's what happened to me today when I came back from school I checked the mailbox and saw some beautiful stamps from Canada. Valérie sure surprised me with this incredible envelope!

Et parfois, échanger une correspondance avec quelqu'un peut déboucher sur une amitié et de très belles surprises comme celle que j'ai trouvé dans ma boite aux lettres en rentrant cet après-midi. SCRAP RENDEZ-VOUS #8

Hello my Friends! We're starting the month of November with a new Scrap Rendez-Vous. As I was saying yesterday, Nathalie and I have the pleasure of welcoming Valérie, a fellow scrapbooker from Montréal. This time the three of us had to make two creations of our choice using this mini kit. One could use other cardstock and embellishments to complement the supplies shown below as long as 3/4 of the kit was used.

Bonjour les Scropinettes! Nous commencons le mois de novembre avec un 8ème Scrap Rendez-Vous. Comme je l'écrivais hier, cette fois Nathalie et moi avons le plaisir d'acceuillir Valérie, une Scropinette venant de la belle ville de Montréal. Pour ce défi, nous devions utiliser le mini kit ( photo au-dessus ) pour réaliser deux projets de notre choix. Comme d'habitude, nous pouvions introduire d'autres élèments ( cardstock, embellies...) à condition de nous servir des 3/4 du contenu du kit.

#1: November symbolizes the end of a cycle, with the harvest and Thanksgiving, it's the perfect time to express Gratitude. I made this matchbox to harbor ATC cards that would reflect what I'm grateful for. I plan on completing it all throughout the month of November.

Le mois de novembre symbolise la fin d'un cycle naturel, les moissons sont faites, la Nature se prépare pour l'hiver et aux Etats-Unis nous feterons Thanksgiving le dernier jeudi du mois. C'est un mois propice à la réflexion et à l'expression de gratitude. J'ai réalisé cette boite d'allumettes dans cet esprit là, il acceuillera une série de cartes ATC sur le thème de la gratitude.

Today I traveled. I went to Finland, Singapore, Germany, Rhode Island and Lithuania. Well, it feels like it, thanks to the the postcard crossing project. If like me you like the idea of receiving postcards from all around the world, do check it out, it's an awesome project and their site is very well organized ;-)

Trop trop forte! ) elle a non seulement trouvé qu'il s'agissait d'une pochette à cravatte, que j'allais faire un mini avec mais en plus elle a été la première à écrire sa réponse. Bravo ma Belle, je vais t'envoyer ta petite surprise en novembre. Sylvie: tu étais si proche! Busir: mais quelle tricheuse ma parole! I used another Quickutz cookie cutter die ( 4 x 6 ") with my Revolution and was able to get 5 pages out of the gift bag: J'ai utilisé une autre forme Quickutz ( 10 x 15 cm ) avec la revolution et j'ai pu faire 5 pages avec la pochette cravatte:
I really liked the fact that the the tie was a present for my Dad's birthday and the mini made with the pouch recaps that event ;-) makes me happy! In the previous mini, the pictures were all "landscape" in this one they're all "portrait".
J'aime beaucoup le fait que la structure de ce mini sur l'anniversaire de mon Papa soit faite avec la pochette cravatte que je lui ai offerte! Dans le mini précedent, toutes les photos étaient à la verticale, dans celui-ci elles sont toutes à l'horizontale.

As you can see since the structure is black, the event is an adult birthday, the celebration took place in the evening, the picture are not that great and quite "busy" so I kept the ensemble black with touches of white and added pieces of transparencies to add depth.
Comme vous pouvez le constater, la structure est noire, il s'agit d'un anniversaire d'adulte, feté dans un restaurant, le soir, les photos ne sont pas "géniales"artistiquement parlant donc j'ai gardé l'ensemble noir en y ajoutant quelques touches de blanc et des transparencies pour ajouter un peu de profondeur.

Qui s'amuse comme une petite folle toute seule derriere son Apple? Qui veut faire mumuse avec la folle de derriere l'Apple?! Alors qui est la plus folle des deux hein...? Chut!! bon, alors, je disais il vous faut #1: deviner le schmilblick et #2: deviner ce que je vais faire avec le schmilblick. Bin oui quoi il va falloir cogiter! on se reveille!! La bonne nouvelle: vous pouvez jouer autant de fois que vous voulez, allez y defoulez-vous, perso, c'est pour ca que je le fais! SKETCH BOOK

My Mom needed a sketch/ idea book so right before she left I wiped up this one using some heavy cardboard sheets from Archiver's ( when I purchase some scrap supplies I ask the nice ladies for a couple of them ;-) Anyway, making a book like this one is very simple with the Bind-It-All, the only tricky part is what kind of adhesive to use and how to use it. I've been using Ad Tech Dot Glue Runner for a while now and it has become one of my favorite adhesives. It's very strong, comes out blue but most importantly it has what i like to call a "grace period" meaning it is repositionable for a few seconds. To cover something I like to work on the edge of the cardstock and I apply the glue to the base of my project, not the paper I'm using to cover it. I hope this makes sense?

Ma Maman avait besoin d'un carnet de croquis/ idées donc je lui ai fait celui-ci juste avant qu'elle ne parte. Si vous etes coquine comme moi, vous avez sans doute déjà penser à demander ces feuilles de carton très épais à votre vendeuse de scrap?! C'est ce que j'ai utilisé pour la structure du carnet, ensuite j'ai recouvert avec du papier fantaisie. Rien de compliqué mais la question de l'adhésif à savoir lequel et comment l'appliquer est crucial lorsque l'on reealise un livre. Si vous utilisez une colle liquide, il y a de forte chance pour que ca gondole, meme en faisant attention, meme en chassant les bulles d'air, meme en passant le rouleau par-dessus! Si vous utiliser du double-face, c'est sur que ca tiendra mais si vous visez mal, ce sera tant pis pour votre pomme! Bon alors lequel? Je crois en avoir trouvé un parfait: Ad Tech Dot Glue Runner. Il colle très bien mais permet de repositioner pendant quelques secondes. Je l'applique tout le long des bords en prenant soin de dépasser pour etre certaine de ne pas voir le papier "rebiquer" par la suite!

The title was made using the Diesel alphabet from Quickutz, I had dried-embossed the white Bazzill prior to cutting the letters. The blue p.p is from Creative Café.

After trimming all that white paper I was left with these long strips. I decided to poke a whole and add a post to make a sort of "flash-card" book for Lily's English words. She really likes it, she writes it and when she has memorized it she gets to stamp Hello Kit by it and boy does that make her happy!
Une fois que j'avais coupé tout ce papier blanc, il me restait un joli paquet de bandes. J'ai pensé qu'en faisant un trou et en y mettant une vice, Gallianne Lily aurait un petit memento pour ces mots d'anglais. Elle recopie som mot et une fois qu'il est enregistré, c'est elle qui tamponne Hello Kitty juste à coté et ca la fait rire à chaque fois!

QUICKUTZ MINI MADE WITH A GIFTBOX

Hello my Friends! Today, I'd like to show you a very simple mini I made for my Dad using that Quickutz cookie cutter die I like so much. It is the same one I used for the bag toppers ( the hair accessories were purchased at Whole Foods by the way ). I used the cardstock from a big gift box ( can you spot from what store it came from :-), and really like the contrast between the "rugged" kraft look and the rather sophisticated shape.

Bonjour les Scropinettes! Aujourd'hui, j'aimerais vous montrer un mini fait pour mon Papa et qui reprend cet emporte- pièces de Quickutz que j'avais déjà utilisé pour faire les petits sacs cadeaux. Pour la base du mini j'ai mis ma casquette "Vive la recup'" et j'ai utilisé un grand carton d'emballage cadeau ( qui peut me dire de quel magasin venait ce carton? ) Bien que ce mini soit très simple, j'aime le contraste entre sa matière: carton kraft et sa forme: l'accolade qui lui donne un petit coté sophistiqué.

QUICKUTZ EPIC...HMM...NOT SO FAST!

Today was supposed to be THE day my mom would finally break down and get the new Epic. As many other crafters and scrapbookers she had been waiting for a die-cut machine that would cut and emboss any leading brands dies and since Archiver's has a special all week-end long on the machine we went to get it this morning. The first demonstration ( done by a lady who works at the store ) was done using a Halloween die ( spider's web ) from Quickutz, when she said she needed to add a couple pieces of paper underneath the die for it to work it felt a little awkward. The spider's web was cut almost every where? hmm...the same lady tried again, this time with one sheet of paper: same result. The manager came to do a 3rd demonstration. This time she used a 12 inch border die, an intricate one mind you but one from Quickutz nonetheless so it should have been a piece of cake. The handle fell down, no big deal, she used the "2 paper underneath the die trick", battled with the whole thing to feed it through and the result was 70% of the design was cut. She called a professional demonstrator from Quickutz who told her to take a new machine out. The manager told us that sometimes this machine worked better if you put the die on one side only of the platform! So she tried again, this time she fed it twice, it was still very difficult to do, my Mom tried, she struggled and the result was only a little better. We were very disappointed, I have the Revolution which is discontinued because the Epic will replace it, I love my Revolution but I have been extremely disappointed with the Silhouette Sd I bought last Spring and now this with the Epic? Needless to say we didn't purchase it which was a real bummer because it was also supposed to be my gift to my Mom for her birthday .



Ce matin ma Maman et moi étions excitées comme des puces. Cela faisait quelques années que Maman attendait une machine à découpes compatible avec toutes les autres dies ( Sizzix, Cuttlebug...) et comme le magasin Archiver's faisait une super promotion ce week-end nous étions pretes à l'acheter. Une dame qui travaillait à Archiver's nous a fait une 1ère démonstration. Elle a expliqué qu'elle mettait deux morceaux de papier pour que la coupe marche, a placé un emporte pièces "toile d'araignée" de Quickutz et le résultat: presque parfait mais au centre de l'image, les petits morceaux n'étaient pas decoupés. La responsable est venue prendre sa place, elle a utilisé un grand emporte-pièces de 30 cm de long, la manivelle s'est décrochée, pas grave, elle a bien bataillé pour avoir une image découpée à 70 %. Elle a téléphoné à la démonstratrice Quickutz qui lui a dit de prendre une nouvelle machine, très bien, cette fois en passant la forme plusieurs fois (aller-retour) ce que ma Maman a trouvé très difficile à faire. Meme en faisant cela le résultat n'était pas probant donc nous sommes reparties bredouilles et j'étais bien décue car cette machine devait etre mon cadeau pour son anniversaire.

WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL

Hello! Hello! I'd like to share 3 WONDERFUL things with you today. 

#1 : I drive G. Lily to school every morning and in the car we listen to a satellite radio station called : "Siriusly Sinatra". Earlier in the week we heard the song "Wonderful, Wonderful" sang by Johnny Mathis and both Lily  and I fell in love with it instantly. Believe it or not, I loved Johnny Matthis when I was about four years old! I don't think he came to France, I must have seen him on the French television! Anyway, the song has been in our heads all week and now when I think about our morning commute , the rain, the traffic on Lake Shore Drive and the construction on the alternative route, I just smile.

Bonjour! Bonjour! J'aimerais partager trois choses avec vous aujourd'hui.

#1 : C'est moi qui conduis Gallianne Lily à l'école chaque matin et dans la voiture nous écoutons un poste sur la radio satellite qui s'appelle " Siriusly Sinatra ". Cette semaine nous avons entendu deux fois la chanson " Wonderful, wonderful" chantée par Johnny Matthis et ca été le vrai coup de coeur. Pour la petite histoire J. Mathis était un de mes chanteurs préférés quand j'avais quatre ans! Mais revenons à nos moutons, nous avons cette petite chanson coincée dans la tete et lorsque je pense à la pluie du matin, la circulation bien dense sur Lake Shore Drive, les travaux de l'autre route, je souris.

#2 : This new wonderful die "Label" from Quickutz ( to be used with The Revolution or the Epic ), perfect to wrap small presents such as these cute hair accessories.

# 3 : I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Jennifer this morning. It was a lot of fun to share with her two of my favorite places here in Chicago : The Paper Source and Windy City Scrapbooking.

Hello, today I'd like to show you a terrific sketch MuseSof drew for the CSLife's forum. As you might have guessed, as soon as I saw the pocket, a bell went off in my head and I thought about stitching a piece of tracing paper onto my p.p. The journaling is about what my Dad said to G.Lily when he was finished reading her a story about vampires: "I am like a vampire, instead of drinking blood, I drink red wine..." he went on and on and Lily's smile started to vanish rapidly, that's when I knew I had to put down the camera and give him an: " okay Dad, thank you very much for reading to Lily, I'll take it from here Dad! "

Bonjour, aujourd'hui j'aimerais vous montrer un super sketch réalisé par MuseSof pour le forum du CSLife's. Vous l'aurez peut-etre deviné, en voyant la poche en transparence, j'ai entendu "Ding!Ding!Ding!" dans ma p'tite tete et j'ai pensé à coudre un morceau de papier calque sur mon papier à motifs...quant au journaling, c'est ce que mon Père à commencer à dire à Gallianne. Au bout de quelques secondes alors qu'il continuait à comparer le vin au sang, j'ai vu le sourire de la Poulette disparaitre et j'ai vite posé l'appareil pour remercier le gentil Papy très rigolo mais un peu sadique sur les bords!

OVER & UNDER ~ 12 X 12 L.O

A page just for the fun of it today. I wanted to play around the concept of "over & under" to imitate my son's movements on his skate. Examples of that can be seen in the two tags slid under the photos, the stitching ;-), the title which is adhered with 3-D dots, the lace cardstock from Ki.

Une page juste pour m'amuser avec le concept de "par-dessus & par-dessous". Alors biensur je tiens à préciser que toute analogie avec une technique de skate serait purement fortuite puisque selon le pro. de skate rien au skate ne peut faire penser à ce drole de concept. Oui, bon, sauf que moi quand je vois mon fils sauter par-dessus des marches ou lorsqu'il passe sous des obstacles, je pense à mon papier que je ferai passer par-dessus un autre, à une étiquette qui aurait des points couture ;-) par-dessus, à ces memes étiquettes qui seraient glissées sous des photos, à des coussinets adhésifs qui rehausseraient un titre...

ODE TO BASIC GREY'S JUNE BUG!

It is no secret that I'm in love with Basic Grey. Each collection is a must-have in my book and the June Bug is no exception no matter what some might think ( she'll know who she is! ) It's a very rich collection, one that reminds me of Christian Lacroix or Kenzo, a delicious mixed bag of plaid, English Chintz, American Quilt, French polka dots and Water Color solid cardstock.Enough talk, let's share a few things I made using that collection.

Je ne crois pas vous surprendre en vous disant que depuis bien longtemps j'aime Basic Grey. Chacune de leurs collections est un "must" et cette collection, contrairement à ce que certaines pourraient penser (hmm...elle sait de qui je veux parler!) n'échappe pas à la règle. C'est vrai qu'elle est osée mais elle aussi très riche et me fait penser aux anciennes collections de Christian Lacroix ou Kenzo avec un savant mélange d'écossais, de Chintz anglais, de patchwork américain, de gros pois à la francaise ou bien de lavis à l'aquarelle. Trève de blabla, je vous montre ce que j'ai fait:
